Visiting Santa

Today we went to visit Santa at The Galt House downtown. Roland & Marlowe had their letters ready for Santa! There was a giant Gingerbread House, a Christmas display from China and best of all they got to meet their friends Zoe and Janette there too. (I think riding the glass elevator up to the top floor may have been their favorite part)

Roland's first School Christmas Program

Roland & his class performed lots of fun songs for parents, friends & family this week. I was so nervous for him but there was no need, he shined like a star! He was also the only kid to wave and yell "hey daddy" from the stage (TWICE!), melting Brian's heart for sure.

Roland's First Day of 4K 8.19.09

I don't know who was more nervous this morning, Roland, me or Brian. For the last few weeks we've been gearing Rolls up for his first day of school. Since we've moved to KY he's been at home with dad so we knew this might be an issue. Last weekend I took him school shopping & we got all new clothes, shoes, socks, and undies and a new GI Joe toy for good measure.Last night and this morning he was excited. Ready to meet new friends and play on the playground. Of course as soon as the van stopped in the parking lot of Christ Luthern he changed his mind. His teacher was great; quickly pulling him off of my leg to join his classmates. Mrs. Wolken (his teacher) said the freak out only lasted about 30 seconds.
Whew. Dressed to impress with new school clothes from head to toe! We had to bring Tiger in the car and the superhero blanket in case Tiger got cold.

Briana comes to visit!

This June/July Briana came up to spend a good deal of her "free" summer time with us. A month with a teenager in the house was an experience! Who knew we were so boring? We did manage to get a few smiles out of her while she was here. And now that she's gone back home we miss her more than you can imagine!

So what does a vegetarian eat at Big Boy?!

Brian in heaven with all his babies on him.
Some of the cute pics from our trip to kentucky Down Under this summer. Marlowe got to pet a kangaroo. Roland loved climbing to the top of a rock wall. Brian braved a flock of birds and I found my inner Snow White.

The Great Louisville Snow Storm of '09

Since moving here I've really learned to drive in snow and ice. It's still not fun. Here are some pics from the great power outages I'm sure you've heard about. The big tree that once shaded our entire front yard got halfway taken down by the ice.
This is the night before we went to bed.

This is the morning after...
